FASHION TRENDS
There was a lot going on down the runways of the SS19 fashion shows. From neons and pastels to prints and colour blocking to fringe and lace, and more – we saw it all from our most beloved designers! It was clear that this season is about making a statement and turning heads. While some runway looks may seem intimidating, you can still incorporate the trends into your wardrobe.
Head-to-toe neutrals dominated the runways. You can add some interest and depth by mixing different shades and textures. Luckily for us, that shouldn’t be hard as feathers, fringe, lace, ruffles, and crochet are all huge this season. Stuart Weitzman even recently launched their Nudist sandals collection.
When you think of Spring/Summer fashion, the first thing that comes to mind is always bright prints and colours. This year is no different as there’s certainly no shortage of colours and patterns to choose from! We saw everything from this season’s staples (like floral and pastel) to nostalgic prints (like paisley and tie dye) to year-round favourites (like plaid and colour block).
Speaking of bright colours, neon is major for Spring/Summer fashion! Some people may be afraid of bright colours, but you can really have fun with them. For those who are not-so-bold, try incorporating just a pop of colour with a pair of shoes (watch out for Stuart Weitzman’s limited edition footwear reveal), a bag, or a tee. For those who are more daring, try a neon trench coat or maxi dress. This trend is carrying over to this season’s makeup looks as well!
BEAUTY TRENDS
Spring is always a great time to try out some of the new makeup trends. Our Oakridge Spring fashion feature captured a hot runway trend: super dewy, glowy skin, slight bronzer, and brilliant neon eyes. Lips were natural and brows were brushed to finish the look.
To get further into a Spring state of mind, you can either go bold and bright or stay natural and vibrant (even freckled!). Try coloured mascara or exchange your black eyeliner for something a bit bolder. Eyeliner has left its conventional place – there are no boundaries this season and you don’t have to stay in the lines.
This year’s brightest trend leans toward neutrals and bronzers are still the call of the hour. To achieve a strong facial contour, try using a couple of shades together. Think glowing, dewy skin with bronzed cheeks, and lips in orange coral finished with a high gloss.
